Worked on some minor revisions on Chapter 13 (Yeah I know I'm going backwards!)
I got some excellent crits back on Chapters 13, 15, & 16 from the two new ladies, Carol & Keisha, in my crit group. I just finished some minor work on chapter 13 & will work on chapters 15 & 16 on the weekend. I also downloaded Anne's latest chapters & am hoping I can get those uploaded for her next week. Overall, I'm very happy with my progress and I'm liking the story even more with every revision I make. I think once it's done it will be good enough to submit to Harlequin or Dorchester. I just hope their editors agree with me ;-).
I've never had as much confidence in my work as I do on The Locktender's Daughter. I had a feeling I was penning something special from just the first few pages I wrote. I know I've got a strong story here, likeable characters, and a setting that's unique but fun. I actually wrote a few pages for the sequel, Saving Grace and I have a feeling that will be something special as well.
The Firelands Bride will be special too but I bit different. My hubby made a comment that he didn't see Lach's profession (He's a fisherman) as being heroic. I think he's wrong. Personally, I think there's something special about a man who braves the waters every day to provide for his family. Not to mention he was willing to marry a woman he barely knew, and leave his hometown to make a life with her and her son in the infant state of Ohio. If that isn't heroic, I don't know what is. Lach is a hero but a different type of hero. The kind of rock-steady man you'd want for a husband. I really believe there are different types of heroes. Just because Lach isn't a doctor like Tyler or a secret service agent like Hagan, doesn't make him any less of a hero. Well I'm going to get the laundry & mop the floors. Drop me a line if you agree with me that my Lach is a hero. I'm curious to get other's opinons on what makes a man heroic.
