Someday's you just gotta go fly a kite :-)

current mood=

The weather was so nice here today. Sunny in the high 60's & breezy so we took advantage of it. After running up to Penney's to get my check and my brother's birthday gift (The hubby also bought some jeans and I found a cute US Polo Assocation shirt on the clearance rack for PJ), we headed to Wal-Mart hunted through the toy section and were disappointed to see that they didn't have any kites. The next stop was Toys R Us, still no kites. Okay I know Kites are seasonal items but come on you'd think they's at least have them in the clearance section. But don't you fret because I remembered a nice little hobby shop down the road and guess what the hubby found there, a nice brightly colored diamond kite :-).

So we headed off to the park, had our late lunch/early dinner and set that kite soaring. Phillip did most of the navigation but he did let PJ have a couple turns with it. Phillip took a pic of us with his camera phone. When he gets it uploaded to our website, I'll post the picture here. PJ wanted to play at the playground of course after awhile so I took him while Daddy finished the kite flying. It was a fun day :-).

Of course I didn't forget about my writing. I just completed another four pages with that so I'm happy with that. But I'm also happy that I had a about an hour or so of kite flying with the hubby and little guy :-).

A lesson I've learned over the past day

Thinking back upon it, had I not complained about getting not getting though to A Hint of Seduction, dear awesome Anna wouldn't have ever read about it and wouldn't have been able to report the problem to Gina. The moral of my story is: If you have a problem with something, speak up about it! Don't just sit there and figure that it's hopeless. Don't just think, like I did orginally, that talking about won't change things beacause no one will hear you. You never know who just might be listening :-). Anyway, had I not ranted a little, I wouldn't have sold my first short story and Gina wouldn't have been alerted to a potential problem with her server blocking e-mails. I guess it all worked out in the end :-).

On my current project, once I got back to work on it, my fingers just don't want to quit :-). The Fireland's Bride is up to 104 pages now and up to a pretty crucial part in the story. My heroine has just fallen Ill with Malaria and it's up to my hero to look after her. At this point in the story, he begins to realize he's in love with her and she was more to him than just a pretty face and a way to escape his overbearing mother. I still want to make a trip up to Vermillion but I still have plenty of time to make my research trip. Well I least have a few more months until the snow starts falling :-).

I'm in a good mood today do you wanna know why :-)?

Current mood=

Look at what I found in my in box when I came back inside from playing with PJ ;-)

Hi Dana,

First, I apologize for calling you Marguerite. I didn't realize that was your
pen name. Second, I forgot to mention in my first email, that it was Anna C.
Bowling who alerted me to the fact that you were having problems getting in
touch with me. She read it in your blog before I did.

Third, I LOVE your story and definitely want to publish it. I'm at work right
now and don't have access to all of my AHoS files (contracts, schedule,
paperwork, etc.). So for now, please consider this your acceptance email. The
next few days are going to be very busy for me. But, I will forward all the
necessary paperwork to you sometime next week. (FYI, I am currently booking
into 2005.)

Congratulations and welcome to the AHoS family! I'm looking forward to working
with you!

Oh my gosh, I'll actually be getting paid for something I wrote *Yippee*!! Thank you thank you thank you Anna dear. If you hadn't have read my blog Gina wouldn't have known about the problems I was having with submitting to her e-zine and she wouldn't have ever e-mailed me personally. Short Story wise, Captive Hearts is my favorite and I'm thrilled that it's getting published. I guess there is a market out there for Ohio historicals :-).

Another reason why I am such a good mood is because my little guy is doing excellent in preschool. We had a parents tea and coffee meeting at the school today and his teacher, Miss Donna commented on how good all the kids are. She said that she has a small class this year (ten kids) and that she loves it because a smaller class is idea. I guess last year she had eighteen, yikes eighteen three year olds? I could just imagine. I mean eighteen little kids who don't know how to form a line or how to sit down for circle time. Anyway, according to the progress report I found in his bookbag, he's doing good with following all the rules of the school and I know he's having fun. He showed me with pride the Apple tree he sponge painted. You know I've gotta get an artwork folder for all his artwork, we're running out of room on the fridge! We had fun outside too after I picked him from school. We had lunch outside at our patio table, and then we played a little soccer (He's so good at running and kicking the ball. He actually does better with kicking it than throwing it. I think we might have a future soccer player here :-)!) and then we ran around the backyard pretending to be super mommy, super PJ and he even had his teddy bear pretending to be super teal. I wish he could stay this little forever. Well maybe not forever but just for a little bit longer. He's upstairs watching Blues Clues now on his computer (Daddy even got him a DVD player for the computer so he can watch his DVD's and movies.) and I had to take a little break to help him get it set up. The windows media player didn't want to work but luckily we have a DVD player installed so I just used that to let him watch his show.

Anyway, first my I find out that my little guy is doing great in preschool and then my short story gets accepted, is there any more good news coming my way? Cause I love this roll that I'm on!

Back to work on The Fireland's Bride & my CC Questions

I've gotten 90 pages of The Fireland's Bride done. I made a deal with myself that I would only play after I worked on my manuscript :-). I put a frew placeholders in because I have to do some research on how to clean a Walleye and I need a some idea of how they cooked fish back in the 1800's but I can look that up after our BIAW is done :-).

Okay Here are my
CC questions
Questions For September 14th
Back 2 School

1. Were you sad or psyched to send the kids back?: A little sad because my baby started preschool!
2. Do your kids buy or bring there lunches?: They don't do lunches in preschool but the school has each child bring snack to share (they alternate who brings it)
3. Do you let your daughter where make-up to school?: I'll tackle that issue when I have a daughter :-)
4. What was your favorite year in school (ie: 1st grade/Senior Year)?: would have to be kindergarten no other grade was as much fun ;-)
5. Did you love school as a child or despise it?: There were parts that I loved and parts that I despised. I loved English, Creative writing, and even history (that goes without saying :-)) but hated math.
